Playing with Your Puppy - How and When
Dogs, being the best companions of mankind, make the ideal pets. They not only serve as a guard to your house but also make the best of friends. However, you have to engage with your puppy to make it comfortable with you and your household. Well, playing with your puppy is the best way to do so. But many new owners are often confused as to how and when to play with a puppy. If you are also one of them, do not fret!
Here we have a list of activities you could do with your puppy. The ideal time to engage with it is either early morning or just before the sunset, that is, the evening.
This is one of the most exciting games for puppies. All you have to do is to tie a pole or a stick with a long rope and hold it at one end. The other end will hang free. You will simply move the string or the rope in an open space and let the puppy chase the stick. The activity enhances the preying skills of your puppy, and it will be happy chasing the stick.
An activity might not only be an outdoor one for your puppy to enjoy it. Yes, if you are feeling lazy on a rainy day, you can just get your pet in bed and cuddle them. Play with them in the warmth of your room, and they will also enjoy this activity.
Well, puppies have an inherent inquisitive nature. They tend to follow and find things. You can enhance their tracking skills by playing this game with your puppy. You will start by rubbing a treat over the floor like bread crumbs in your yard and then hide it at a distance. Your puppy will follow the trail and try to search for the treat. You can make it enjoyable by hiding the piece of bread inside a small box or put it in the puppy’s food pouch.
The easiest yet exciting way of playing with your puppy is to take them out for a walk. Walking is a healthy activity for both of you, and you will be able to connect with them. The puppies love to take leisurely walks and sniff along the way as it gives them a feeling of freedom and playfulness.
Don't forget to bring your pup's favourite toy for some additional fun in the park or at the beach.
As strange as it sounds, but it still works. As your new doggie may be scared of your automobile, it is an excellent idea to let them get familiar with the vehicle. You can just walk around your car, opening and closing the car doors, honking the horn, etc. This exercise will make them comfortable sitting in the car the next time you take them on the ride.
Now, these are some of the many games you can play with your little one. You will be able to develop a strong bond with your puppy and get to know each other well along the way. Enjoy yourself and take care of your puppy.
